CHANDIGARH, APRIL 14
Minerva Punjab Football Club face off against Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan in their final home encounter of the ongoing Hero I-league 2017 tomorrow at 7 p.m at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana.
The encounter is a crucial one for both teams involved as Mohun Bagan are looking to solidify their lead at the top of the table and gain three valuable points to edge past Aizwal FC and Kingfisher East Bengal for the title. Whereas Minerva Punjab FC will look to add three points to their kitty to seal their federation cup slot.
Both teams are expected to give a tough fight to each other with so much riding on the line. The last time the teams met in Kolkata, at the beginning of the season a much unsettled Minerva Punjab lost the match 4-0.
MPFC Head Coach Surinder Singh is looking to make amends to this record and confident that the more settled Minerva Punjab FC will not make it easy for the formidable opposition. The Head Coach of Mohun Bagan was keen to collect all three points but was cautious as his team have had a very tight schedule having played four matches and travelling all over the country in the last week or so.
Both teams are free of injuries and suspensions but neither coach gave away too much information about their respective team planning and strategies.
