CHANDIGARH, JULY 22
The Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Haryana will now be able to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Dual System of Training (DST) through which maximum number of youth trainees could get ample employment and self-employment opportunities by getting practical skill training in the industrial establishments.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Skill Development and Industrial Training Department said that apart from this, under the Craftsmen Training Scheme of the Central Government, the students of ITIs could be provided experimental training in the concerned industries in 72 different trades being run by the Department through signing MOU.
He said that with a view to make the skill training employable and to enhance the participation of industrial establishments, the Central Government has given relaxation in several stringent conditions for signing maximum number of MOUs in the Dual System of Training. These included the condition of Rs 100 crore turnovers of industries and requirement of minimum 200 employees, availability of DST in few courses and non eligibility of ITIs for this system having grading of less than two. As a result of the relaxation given by the Central Government, about 27 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) have signed MOUs in DST with 42 industrial establishments for 70 trade units. This, he said, has resulted in increased employment opportunities. Also, some industries have made a provision to give scholarship to the trainees during the training period, he added.
The spokesman said that under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Director General, Training had in the year 2016, started DST for few popular trades with some stringent conditions. He said that the aim of this system is to make the students of ITIs more skilled through the participation of industries as well as industrial training institutes. During the course under this system, while a few portion of experimental training of students would be completed in institutions, the remaining portion would be got completed in the industrial establishments. For this, Memorandum of Agreement is signed between Government Industrial Training Institutes and Industries. In the DST, the students could be given 3-6 months experimental training in ITI course of one year and 6-12 months training in two years ITI course in the concerned industrial institution.
He said that under the Haryana Craftsmen Training Scheme, the youth are being given skilled based training in engineering and non-engineering courses of one and two year’s duration through 167 Government Industrial Training Institutes and 242 Private Industrial Training Institutes. He said that youth who are above 18 years of age and willing to get admission in the ITIs of the State could participate in the admission process by filling the online form against the trades/seats released in the DST, he further added.
