Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma today visited the House of Commons and the House of Lords of the United Kingdom. He also met Lord Karan Bilimoria, Chancellor of Birmingham University, one of the world's top universities. The Education Minister was accompanied by Director General, Haryana Technical Education Department, Mr. A. Sreenivas, Vice Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology Hisar, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Haryana Technical Education Department, Mr. Hitesh Kumar and Regional Head of FICCI, Mr. G.B. Singh.
The delegation, led by the Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, held discussions with Chancellor of Birmingham University and other high officials regarding the academic collaboration between Universities of Haryana and Birmingham University. Lord Karna Bilimoria assured the Haryana Education Minister of help in establishing close relations between Haryana and Britain in academic matters.
Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that in the new education policy being framed by the Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development, the issue of establishing an institution in collaboration with the best universities abroad and opening the campus of top foreign universities in India will be raised.
It is worth mentioning here that Birmingham University was the first to make pacemaker and plastic heart-valve.
