Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that with a view to increase happiness in the life of people and to reinforce brotherhood feeling in society, the Rahagiri programs were started two-and-a-half years ago in Haryana, which the people has appreciated very much. The Rahgiri programme reflects that social concern is one of the top priorities of the present government. This Rahgiri's social message is connected with the water conservation campaign.
The Chief Minister was participating in the State Level Rahagiri first prize distribution program in the campus of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, today. The program was also attended by Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, Member of Parliament, Mr. Brijendra Singh, Chairman of Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises, Dr. Kamal Gupta and Mayor, Mr. Gautam Sardana. The Chief Minister openly participated in every activity in the Rahgiri function and encouraged the participants.
Upon reaching Rahagiri, the Administration and Police Department, the Dignitaries welcomed the Chief Minister. During this, the police jawans gave salute to the Chief Minister and the police's troopers, ladders, cultural teams, army bands and police bands welcomed the Chief Minister. As soon as the Chief Minister saw activities with his entry into university campus, he participated in every game with personal interest.
At the beginning of his address, the Chief Minister encouraged the youth with the slogans of Jai Ho, Jai Ho of Yuva Shakti, of Bharat Mata, of Haryana, of patriotism, of sportsmen, artists and of the Rahgirs. The Chief Minister said that this program started two-and-a-half years ago has become very popular among the people today. The aim of this program is to free the hectic life from stress. He said that the Happiness is considered the national prosperity index in Bhutan. We have also started this program with the same intention whose sole purpose is social concern.
He said that every program of Rahagiri has some social message. This rahgiri’s social message is connected with the water conservation campaign. Recently, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has emphasized the need for proper utilization of water in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. Jal Shakti Abhiyan has also been started to tell people the importance of water and to make them aware of its wastage.
He said that we do not have to stop such programs at any time, but also have to introduce them at the sub-division and block level and ensure maximum participation of the people. On one hand, such programs maintain health of the participants and secondly, there is an atmosphere of meeting and interaction with people, which increases the spirit of brotherhood too. He said that the purpose of these programs is not to take any political advantage. The Chief Minister said that in order to encourage the youth and the players, vyayamshalas have been built in villages and such a sports policy has been developed for sports persons, which is being appreciated across the country. A Yoga Council has been set up in Haryana so that more and more people can live healthy lives by adopting yoga.
The Chief Minister honoured the districts performing notable in the rahgiri programs held at the district level with award in different categories. For organising maximum rahgiri function from April 2018 to March 2019, the Chief Minister honoured Karnal, Gurugram and Fatehabad, Gurugram, Karnal and Hisar were honoured on the basis of the number of participants in the rahgiri programs, Karnal, Rohtak and Jhajjar were honoured for getting maximum media coverage, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Panipat were honoured on the basis of participation of the Deputy Commissioner in Rahagiri programs, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Panipat were honoured on the basis of the participation of the Deputy Commissioners and on the basis of the participation of Superintendent of Police in Rahgiri, the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Ambala, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Karnal and Narnaul districts were honoured. Apart from this, IPS Bharti Arora, Pankaj Nain, Sonal Goyal and Sarika Panda were also honored for their contribution towards popularizing the Rahagiri program.
The Director General of Police, Mr. Manoj Yadava presented the annual report of the Police Department regarding Rahgiri. He said that 367 programs of Rahagiri have been organized in the state in the last one year, out of which 8.59 lakh persons have participated. He inspired the public to save water.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ashok Kumar Meena also spoke on this occasion.
