Scoring another first in promoting the cause of the girl child, the Haryana Government has decided to hold ‘Kanya Janamdin Utsav’ in all government schools on February 11, 2016 in which parents along with their daughters will participate. It is for the first time that special programme, aimed at putting an end to the discrimination between girl and boy from the society, will be held for the girls studying in government schools in any state.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Education Department said it has been decided to celebrate the birthday of all girls in the month of February as ‘Kanya Ka Janamdin-School Mein Abhinandan’. Under the programme, every month birthday of all girls studying in government schools would be celebrated on the second Tuesday as an Utsav.
The date of the festival would be announced in the first week of every month. The launch function would mandatorily be held during the mid-day meal. During the morning prayers, the school head would greet these daughters and members of the panchayat would bless them. Besides, the school notice board would bear messages of greetings for these girls, the spokesman added.
The “Hamari Panchayat – Hamari Atithi’ programme would be organized in all schools on February 11, 2016, in which discussions would be held on school development plans, promoting quality education, end to cheating in examinations to be held in March and admission programme. The newly elected panchayats have been invited to lend support to the prgramme aimed at bringing about transparency.
