Six-laning of Badarpur-Agra section to be completed in 2 years

CHANDIGARH, MAY 5
 The 800 crore project of six laning of  about 180 kms Badarpur-Agra section falling on  Nation Highway -2 would be completed within a period of two years.  About 74 km of this section falls in Haryana and as many as nine flyovers would be constructed on it.
            This was stated by Union Road, Transport and Highway Minister Mr CP Joshi who laid the foundation stone of the project at Hodal of Palwal district today in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
        Addressing the gathering Mr.CP Joshi said that the Central Government under the guidance of UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh is ensuring all round development of the country. Likewise the development of Haryana is taking place under the leadership of Mr.Hooda. He said that PPP mode is also adopted for ensuring development. He said that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has constructed National Highways of more than 80000 kms long. The project which has been initiated today would be completed within stipulated time frame, he asserted. 
        Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said that during the tenure of NDA government, no significant work was carried out  by NHAI in Haryana. In sharp contrast to it, during the tenure of UPA government projects costing Rs 11 thousand crore has either been completed in Haryana or are in progress. He said that out of the total length of highway which is 180 kms, 74 kms falls in Haryana and under this project, nine flyovers would be constructed within the boundaries of the state. He urged Mr. Joshi to construct more flyovers or under passes in the state for the convenience of the people. In case any financial support is needed, Haryana Government is ready to cooperate with the central government for this purpose, he added.
            Mr Hooda said that in the last eight years a sum of Rs 14620 crore has been spent on the construction of roads, bridges and buildings. Palwal was given the status of a district for ensuring its full development.  After Faridabad got connected with Delhi Metro, it was being extended upto Ballabhgarh and in due course of time, it would also reach Palwal, he added.
        Speaking on the occasion Haryana Industries Minister Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala said that during the tenure of Mr.Joshi, pace of NHAI projects has accelerated. He said that with the six laning of NH-2, the development of entire Brij region would take place and would improve the connectivity of Haryana with Mathura region. He said NHAI would bear the expenditure of the project and wherever necessary, approval should be sought to construct u-turns for the easy conveyance of the people residing nearby, he added.
Mr.Deepender Singh Hooda and Mr. Avtar Singh Badana both Members of Parliament were also present on the occasion.
