CHANDIGARH, MAY 11
In Haryana, more than 63.12 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has so far arrived in various mandis during the current procurement season.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that the government agencies have procured 63.09 lakh MT of wheat whereas, 2229 MT of wheat have been purchased by traders.
He said that HAFED has purchased highest 24.33 lakh MT of wheat followed by 17.53 lakh MT purchased by Food and Supplies Department. Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased 5.59 lakh MT, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 6.20 lakh MT, CONFED 1.57 lakh MT and Food Corporation of India had procured 7.85 lakh MT of wheat during current procurement season so far.
He said that district Sirsa is leading in the wheat arrival where 8.87 lakh MT of wheat has arrived in the mandis, followed by Fatehabad with 6.84 lakh MT. Similarly, 6.52 lakh MT wheat arrived in Karnal, 5.99 lakh MT in Jind, 5.92 lakh MT in district Kaithal, 4.48 lakh MT in Kurukshetra, 4.44 lakh MT of wheat in Hisar, 3.21 lakh MT in Sonepat, 2.50 lakh MT in Panipat, 2.14 lakh MT in Bhiwani, 2.12 lakh MT in Ambala, 2.12 lakh MT in Rohtak, 2.07 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, 2.03 lakh MT in Palwal, 1.17 lakh MT in Jhajjar, 90,507 MT in Faridabad, 50,572 MT in Mewat, 43,603 MT in Gurgaon, 29,490 MT in Rewari, 27,375 MT in Panchkula and 20,893 MT wheat arrived in various mandis in Narnaul.
He said that farmers have been asked to bring dry and properly cleaned wheat in the mandis so that they might not face any difficulty while selling their produce.
