CHANDIGARH, MAY 14
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that Assembly Elections in the State will be held in time and there is no proposal whatsoever to advance it.
Mr. Hooda who was addressing a press conference soon after the Cabinet Meeting here today made it clear that Congress Party is fully poised and in a strong position for assembly elections slated to be held in October this year in the state. Undoubtedly, it would emerge victorious in the Assembly Elections, he added.
Mr. Hooda said that a metro stretch of 3.2 kilometers between YMCA Chowk, Faridabad to Ballabgarh has got approval and the work would be started soon. A sum of Rs. 568 crores would be incurred on it.
In reply to a question about the meeting of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), Mr. Hooda said that the meeting resolved that all party workers and office bearers would work together to further strengthen the Party for the ensuing assembly elections adding that the Party would emerge victorious in the elections.
Answering a question regarding his view on the results of exit polls with regard to Haryana, Mr. Hooda said that each agency which has conducted exit polls has different predictions on it and varies in their results. The final picture would only be clear on May 16 after the counting of the votes.
On being asked about Cabinet’s decision on toll tax within the State, Mr. Hooda said that the agenda item for the same has been deferred till next Cabinet meeting as model code of conduct is in existence.
In reply to a question regarding conversion of forest land, Mr. Hooda said that no forest land has been converted in the State and there is no proposal for conversion of forest land for any use in future also.
In reply to a question, Mr. Hooda said that Congress Party is committed for ensuring its due share of water to the people of the State through SYL Canal. He said that the people were deprived of water only because of INLD as it’s then leadership opposed the Rajiv Longowal accord otherwise, the SYL canal would have been completed by now.
When Mr. Hooda was asked to comment on the statement made by Rajya Sabha Member Mr. Birender Singh about the distribution of tickets in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha Elections, Mr. Hooda said that the Party’s Central Election Committee would only decide about the tickets and none of them are the deciding authorities.
On being asked to comment on the allegation leveled by INLD leader Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala that the State Government did not get the Development Plan of Gurgaon approved from the National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board, Mr. Hooda said that Development Plans do not need any approval from the NCR Planning Board. He said that it seems that these leaders do not have proper knowledge of this matter. Mr. Hooda said that the State Government had been approving the Development Plans for the small cities also so as to avoid the setting up of unauthorized colonies and to provide better infrastructure facilities to the migrated population in the urban areas.
In reply to a question, Mr. Hooda said it was duty of Party Workers to reach out to the masses and sensitize them about the success stories and developmental schemes being run by the State Government. Mr. Hooda said that today Haryana ranks top in a number of parameters be it the Per Capita Income, Per Capita Investment, Resource Mobilization, Old Age Pension, Scholarships to student of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes A, rural and urban purchasing power etc.
On being asked to comment on the statement made by a former Haryana Minister Mr. Gopal Kanda over the functioning of the State Government, Mr. Hooda said that he was amazed that the Minister was saying this after a long tenure of 8-9 years of present State Government. Mr. Hooda said that people knows him very well.
