CHANDIGARH, MAY 13
Counting of votes for the General Elections-2014 in Haryana will commence at 8 a.m on May 16.
While giving this information here today, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana Mr. Shrikant Walgad said that postal ballot would be counted first up to 8:30 am. Thereafter, the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would start.
Mr. Walgad said that immediately after the counting of postal ballot, the counting of EVMs would start. He said that in case counting of postal ballot takes more time, even in such a situation the counting of EVMs would start exactly at 8:30 am, he added.
The Chief Electoral Officers said that Haryana has 32 Polling Places where 90 counting centre has been set up. He said that the concerned Assistant Returning Officer would conduct the counting of votes on these counting centres. Apart from this, Observers would also be present on these Polling Places, he further added.
Mr. Walgad said that the EVMs would be taken to the voting hall or centre from the strong room in the morning of May 16 after which the counting of votes would take place. He said that the entire process of transportation of EVMs would be videographed. Adequate arrangement of security would be made on all the Poling Centres with deployment of police personnel. The polling agent and employees coming to the Centres would be thoroughly checked. Similarly, sufficient number of police personnel would remain present outside the counting centre as well as in the strong room.
Chandigarh May 13: The Election Commission of India has ordered Re-poll on eight polling stations in four assembly segments falling under the Gurgaon Parliamentary Constituency.
While stating this here today, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana Mr. Shrikant Walgad said that polling at these polling stations would be held on May 15, 2014 from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Mr. Walgad said that the polling stations on which Re-polling would be held included 126-Govt. Primary School, Bawala (left room) in Sohna Assembly Segment, 44-Govt. Middle School, Rehna (left room), 46-Govt. Primary School, Tapkan and 103-Govt. Primary School, Majra Bhandgaka in Nuh Assembly Segment, 34-Govt. Middle School, Banarashi, 101-Govt. High School, Nimkhera and 166-Govt. Primary School, Shahpur in Firozpur Jhirka Assembly Segment and 90-Govt. Middle School, Thek in Punhana Assembly Segment.
