Proposal for laying railway line between Yamunanagar and Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 9
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, disclosed today that a proposal had been sent to the Central
Government for laying a railway line between Yamunanagar and Chandigarh. Work on the project would start as soon as approval is received.
        Addressing a huge public rally organized by Mr Nayab Singh, MLA, at Naraingarh in Ambala district today, he said that the rain water from the hills in Naraingarh area would be utilised by constructing check dams so that the ground water could be recharged. It would help irrigate water-starved farms in the area. .
        Accepting most of the demands put forth by Mr Nayab Singh, the Chief Minister said that the state government would soon start mining work after getting positive judgement from the court.
        Referring to the Prime Minister, Mr Narnedra Modi’s mantra “Na Khaunga, Na Khaneduna (neither will I take bribe, nor will I allow anyone to take bribe), the Chief Minister said that the state government was following the same principle. He asked leaders and officers present to take a pledge to eliminate corruption and urged
people not to offer anybody anything for getting their routine work done in government offices.
Warning government employees and officers against indulging in graft, he said that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
The Chief Minister recalled the statement made by the former Prime Minister, Mr Rajiv Gandhi, who had said that out of the one rupee sent by the Centre for development works, only 15 paise reached the people.
Seven times more development would be undertaken with these funds if corruption ends, the Chief Minister said.
       He assured sugarcane growers that full payment would be made to them for their crop. The sugar mills have been facing problems due to fall in the prices of sugar in the markets. Soon, the government would
find a solution to this problem, he said.
        The Chief Minister accepted various demands made by Mr Nayab Singh. These included setting up of girls’ college in Shahzadpur, sports stadia in Naraingarh, a four-laned road in Naraingarh, construction of a small bridge in Berkheri village, upgrading of various schools, Primary Health Centres in Bhurewala and Dhnana,
renovation of the Barwala-Handesra road via Raiwali, setting up of Trauma Centre in Civil Hospital, Naraingarh, and providing financial assistance for sewerage in Naraingarh etc.
        MP from Ambala, Mr. Ratan Lal Kataria, and Mr Nayab Singh Saini also spoke on this occasion.
