With a view to mark World Tourism Day falling on September 27, the Haryana Tourism has decided to offer ten per cent discount on food and accommodation to the guests visiting its tourist complexes across the State from September 27 to 29, 2016.
While stating this here today, Principal Secretary, Tourism Department Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi said that a series of food festivals would also be organized during these days at Karna Lake, Karnal, Magpie, Faridabad and Ethnic India, Rai in District Sonipat. A variety of cuisines including South Indian, Chinese, Rajasthani, Mughlai, Hyderabadi and Awadhi would be served during these food festivals. The rooms can be booked online at www.haryanatourism.gov.in and regular updates can be viewed at the haryanatourismindia page on Facebook.
He said that as a part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, Tourist Complexes would be well-illuminated, different competitions for students would be organised and candy bags would be distributed among the children on September 27. Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism and Hospitality, Mrs Seema Trikha, would also grace the occasion, he added.
Managing Director, Haryana Tourism, Mr Sameer Pal Srow said that Haryana is endowed with many religious and historical attractions which create immense possibilities of growth in the tourism sector. The impetus is on upgrading the existing infrastructure and promoting Haryana as the most preferred destination to increase its share in the international and domestic travel market. He said that a number of upcoming projects to boost the tourism sector in the state are being taken up under the Private Public Partnership mode that included Amusement Park at Tilyar in Rohtak, Wellness Resort-cum-Health Spa at village Kaziana in Ddistrict Panchkula, Health Club at Faridabad, Floating restaurant at Karna Lake, Karnal and Heritage Hotel at Madhogarh.
A trailblazer in highway tourism, Haryana Tourism has 43 tourist complexes with 838 air-conditioned rooms, which provide all kind of facilities to tourists. The concept of tourism has been diversified and broadened by focusing on pilgrim tourism, heritage tourism, farm tourism, golf tourism eco-tourism, adventure tourism and MICE tourism, he added.
Mr Srow said that Haryana Tourism organizes the Surajkund International Crafts Mela from February 1 to 15 every year in Faridabad that occupies a place of pride and prominence on the international tourism calendar attracts more than a million domestic and foreign visitors during the Mela fortnight. He said that making the Mela a more pleasurable experience, the Mela area has been expanded and it is now spread over 56 acres that houses over 1000 work huts for hosting craftspersons. Apart from this, Pinjore Heritage Festival which commemorates the unique heritage of Pinjore and its majestic Mughal Gardens is also organised every year by Haryana Tourism in November-December at Pinjore Gardens.
