The new Building of DLF Qutub Enclave Phase I Post Office,Gurgaon was inaugurated by Ms. P.Gopinath, Secretary Posts, Government of India today at 11.00 hrs. Ms. Kalpana Tewari Member(Planning) Postal Services Board was also present on the occasion. The Building has been constructed on an area of approx.466.88 sq.mtrs. This Post Office was functional earlier in an accommodation provided by DLF, which was in a dilapidated condition. The Department approved the construction of New Building in the new location in view of the problems faced by general public and the postal staff in the existing building. The construction of building was started in May-2013 and completed in January 2014.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary(Post) Ms. P.Gopinath informed about the ambitious IT Modernization Project, where in all the services provided to the Post Office will be available on an IT based Platform. The financial services including Post Office Savings Bank and Postal Life Insurance will become online. The Core Banking Solution (CBS) implementation is already under progress and day by day Post offices are being migrated to new CBS Platform. She informed that CBS has been rolled out already in total 27 Post Offices in 6 States viz. Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Maharastra, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh area. Further, Department is setting total 3000 ATMs out of which 1000 ATMs are projected to be installed by the end of year 2014.
Speaking on the occassion, Ms. Kalpana Tewari Member Planning, Postal Services Board described about the initiatives of Department of Posts for providing adequate infrastructure in Gurgaon. She said that Gurgaon is the most developing city of NCR and Department of Posts is committed to provide better postal facility in the area. The forthcoming building projects of DLF Phase II and DLF Phase III, Sector 31 and South City I will also be given a priority.
Ms.Achla Bhatnagar Chief Postmaster General Haryana in her speech informed that Gurgaon has come a long way in acquiring the adage of “Millennium City”. Haryana Postal Circle shall live up to the challenge of providing timely & efficient service to general public.
Subsequently, the DLF Phase I Post Office building was dedicated to the nation by Secretary Posts. There was a good turnout of general public, RWAs, Corporate Customers & students of nearby schools. After the inauguration, the Secretary Posts & Member (Planning) planted trees in the Post Office Building commemorating the occasion.
