As many as 3,56,215 visitors have visited the to the Surajkund International Crafts Mela, Surajkund, Faridabad upto February 8th while last year 2,98,207 visitors had come till this duration, making it 58,008 visitors more this time.
While giving this information today, Director General, Tourism, Haryana and Member, Administration, Surajkund Mela Authority, Mrs. Sumita Misra said that this has brought smiles on the faces of craftspersons, as they are doing a brisk business in the Mela sans the middleman. She said that proper arrangements have been made for the stay of artisans and craftspersons and subsidy was also being given to them.
Mrs. Misra said that online booking of entry tickets of Mela has also set a record of sorts by generating business worth Rs 6.5 lakhs from sale of tickets. She said that 10 per cent discount was also being offered on online booking of Mela entry tickets. People have been receiving an SMS and e-mail that confirms their online booking.
She said that this time in a special initiative, the youth were being encouraged to be a part of the Mela, they were being given 50 per cent discount on Mela entry tickets during weekdays only on production of their photo I-cards. Also, ticket counters have been set up at malls in Gurgaon and Faridabd and 25 lakh SMSes informing about the Mela have been sent to people.
Nizami Brothers of Delhi would perform resonating qawwalis at Natyashala of Surajkund International Crafts Mela on February 10 from 6 pm onwards, she added.
No.IPRDH/2014Chandigarh, February 9 – In Haryana, ‘Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram’ and ‘Menstrual Hygiene Scheme’ will be launched on February 10, 2014.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Health Department said that Haryana Health Minister, Rao Narender Singh will launch the ‘Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram’ and ‘Menstrual Hygiene Scheme’ from Panchkula.
He said that ‘Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram’ is a statewide programme which aims at improving health of adolescents and fulfilling their development needs. The scheme has six priority objectives namely Enable Reproductive and Sexual Health, Improve Nutrition, Enhance Mental Health, Injuries and Violence, including Domestic and Gender based Violence, Substance Misuse and Non-Communicable Diseases.
Under the programme, a strategy would be adopted to make adolescent in the state aware about problems related to their health and consultation and treatment facilities would also be provided to them. He said that Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics named ‘Mitrata Clinics’ would be run at District Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres for providing counseling and referral services to adolescents. He said that four Peer Educators including adolescent two boys and two girls would be identified in every village and trained by doctors on adolescent health issues. They would further conduct meetings with adolescent boys and girls of their villages to generate awareness on these health issues. Apart from this, Adolescent Health Day would be organized in every village and weekly iron and folic acid supplementation would be administered to adolescent boys and girls of class 6th to 12th.
On this occasion, the Health Minister will also launch ‘Menstrual Hygiene Scheme’. Under this programme, adolescent girls in the age group of 10-19 years, residing in rural areas, would be encouraged for using sanitary napkins and hygiene. ASHA workers would play a major role in this programme, he added.
