CHANDIGARH, FEB 1
Haryana Agriculture Department has so far issued Soil Health Cards to 17.87 lakh farming families and information related to soil health has been made online which could be seen or downloaded by farmers anywhere.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that Haryana has emerged as a model state in the country by mapping Soil Fertility for each village.
He said that based on the fertility mapping, the Department has initiated a series of steps to address the criticality of soil health in the State. The subsidy has been hiked from 50 per cent to 75 per cent on Micro-Nutrients, Zinc Sulphate, Ferrous Sulphate and Manganese Sulphate. As many as 20 Soil Testing Laboratories equipped for micro-nutrients testing have been set up in the State. Apart from this, three Mobile Soil Testing labs are operational in the State. So far, 1.5 lakh soil samples have been analyzed annually for Micro-Nutrients.
The spokesman said that for reclamation of degraded alkali soil and replenishment of sulphur deficiency, Gypsum was being supplied by HLRDC on 60 per cent subsidy. About 4,000 hectare area has been targeted for gypsum application and a provision of Rs 12.90 crore has been made for this purpose.
