Haryana Dairy Development Cooperation Federation has touched the mark of 3.68 lakh litres average milk procurement per day during the current year from April 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014 whereas the average milk sale during the period was 3.76 lakh litres per day.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Federation said that during the year 2012-13, the Federation has recorded sales turnover of Rs 958 crore and the total handling capacity of five milk plants in the State has been enhanced from 4.70 lakh litres per day to 8.80 lakh litres per day during this period. A total of 4045 MT ghee has been sold from April 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014, he added.
The spokesman said that with a view to strengthen milk marketing, so far, 354 milk booths and milk bars have been set up in different cities and towns in the State. He said that the State Government has sanctioned subsidy of Rs. four per liter of milk to be paid to milk producers and dairy farms of Haryana state supplying milk to District Milk Unions under “Mukhyamantri Dugdh Utpadak Protsahan Yojna”. Under this scheme, subsidy amounting Rs.10.16 crores has been paid to milk producers of State during the period June 27, 2013 to September 30, 2013. The State Government has also decided to continue this scheme from April to September during the next two years for which the subsidy amount would be Rs. 37.12 crores for the year 2014-15 and Rs. 44.54 crores for 2015-16, he added.
He said that an Insurance Scheme has been launched for the benefit of Milk Producers Members under which a committed member has been insured for Rs. one lakh for accidental death by merely paying Rs.10. About 26,000 persons have been insured under the scheme.
He said that there was also a plan to provide Automatic Milk Collection Units and Milko Testers to all the societies in the next five years. This will help in maintaining good quality of milk. Similarly, Bulk Milk Coolers would be provided to a Milk Producer Society, who forms a cluster of 10 to 15 villages. Milk weight and Fat is instantly being measured in a transparent manner in Automatic Milk Collection Units. Milk is also being checked for any adulteration with milk testing kits approved by National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.
