The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has urged the people to give best possible education to their wards to ensure their bright future.
Mr Hooda was speaking on the 637th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidass at Shri Guru Ravidass Maha Sabha in Sector 20 here today. He announced a discretionary grant of Rs 21 lakh for the construction of Maha Sabha. The Education and Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, also announced a grant of Rs 11 lakh for the purpose.
While paying rich tributes to the great saint, the Chief Minister said that Guru Ravidass propagated high ideals and showed the path to entire humanity. The teachings of Saint Ravidass are still relevant today. Following in his footsteps, the state government has ensured welfare of all sections of the society, especially those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes.
Mr Hooda said that with the blessings the UPA Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, and the people of the state, he got an opportunity to serve the people and had done his best during the last nine years.
While greeting people on this occasion, Mr. Hooda said that state government had started many schemes and programmes for providing quality education to all. The state government is emphasizing on quality education. About 19.72 lakh students are getting scholarships ranging from Rs 75 to Rs 600 per month right from Class I to XII. He also highlighted various schemes which are being implemented by the state government for the welfare of SCs and BCs.
Mr. Hooda urged the people to follow the high ideals of Saint Ravidass and work for betterment of the society. He inaugurated the newly renovated hall of Shri Guru Ravidass Maha Sabha on this occasion.
Speaking on the oaccsion, Mrs Bhukkal said Saint Ravidass' aim was that nobody should remain without food and everyone should get due respect. The Union Government has introduced the Food Security Bill which has been implemented by the state government. The Chief Minister has ensured equal development of all sections of the society Sant Ravidass had dreamt 636 years ago.
Mrs Bhukkal said that State Scheduled Castes Commission had been constituted by the government to safeguard the interests of the people belonging to the community. The chairman and members of the Commission would be appointed very soon, she added.
Mrs. Bhukkal assured the Chief Minister full support of the people as their interests had been protected by Mr Hooda. "The entire society stands with you and Mr Hooda would become Chief Minister for third consecutive term," she added.
The Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President, Dr Ashok Tanwar, also congratulated the people on this occasion and said that Saint Ravidass propagated the message of brotherhood and tolerance and his teachings are relevant even today. It is a matter of satisfaction that
he had assumed the office of PCC chief on this important day. He appealed to the people to give unstinted support to the Congress party and the Chief Minister.
