CHANDIGARH, NOV 25
More than 54.97 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy have arrived in the mandis of Haryana till November 24, 2015, of which 42.39 lakh MT paddy has been purchased by government procurement agencies.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that more than 19.36 lakh MT of paddy have purchased by the Food and Supplies Department, more than 14.96 lakh MT have been purchased by Hafed, 4.34 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and more than 3.71 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
He added that Karnal had received the maximum amount of paddy at 11.89 lakh MT of the total arrival, more than 10.08 lakh MT paddy has arrived in Kurukshetra, more than 7.08 lakh MT in Kaithal, more than 6.80 lakh MT in Ambala, more than 4.63 lakh MT in Fatehabad, more than 4.51 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, more than 2.63 lakh MT in Jind, more than 1.99 lakh MT in Sirsa and more than 1.38 lakh MT paddy in Sonipat.
Similarly, more than 1.25 lakh MT in has arrived in the mandis in Panchkula, more than 1.21 lakh MT in Palwal, 66,599 MT in Hisar, 27,723 MT in Faridabad, 31,569 MT in Rohtak, 13,672 MT in Jhajjar, 4,711 MT in Mewat and 3,670 MT in Gurgaon.
The spokesman said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing them to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content.
