CHANDIGARH, NOV 12
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee has given approval to the Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill passed by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. The bill has come into force in the form of a law with immediate effect.
The Chief Minister was interacting with media persons after a function organized by Vishwakarma Sabha Haryana on the occasion of Vishwakarma Diwas at Meham district Rothak today. He said that with the passing of the Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill, cow trafficking, slaughtering and eating beef are banned in the state. He said that various other states have congratulated Haryana for this initiative.
Replying to the questions of media persons, the Chief Minister said that the people of Mewat have assured him that no cow slaughtering would take place in this area. He said that in his opinion, benefit of reservation should be given to needy persons.
Replying to another question, Mr Manohar Lal said that the matter regarding Panchayat elections in the state has been taken up by the Supreme Court and whatever the decision maybe, it will be adhered to.
Later while coming back to Chandigarh from Meham, the Chief Minister stopped at village Bainsi, Chidi, Kathura and Ahulana to interact with people and to redress their problems.
The people of village Chidi informed the Chief Minister about the bad condition of roads. Also, the Chief Minister redress the grievances of people pertaining to electricity and drinking water and urged them to pay electricity bills on time. He directed the officers concerned on the spot to redress the grievances of villagers.
