Mr. Yadav said that a number of competitions, including rangoli making, folk dance, drawing and mehndi applying would be organised for school children from Chandigarh and Panchkula on both days of the Festival. A kids fashion show and flash mob would further add to the charm of the Festival on November 28.
He added that vibrant performances by the folk artistes of National Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, would be a must-watch, and the enthralling day performances by folk dance groups, including Ragni Kud, Bhangra, Giddha, Bagpiper, Sapera, Sarangi, Banchari, Kathputli, etc, would bring the pathways of the Gardens alive and entertain the visitors.
The Managing Director said that in tune with its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Haryana Tourism has made arrangements for the visit of differently-abled students on November 28. A Heritage Walk and Best Dressed Competition for Senior Citizens would be organised on November 29, 11.00 AM onwards. They would be able to enjoy free entry to the Festival and complimentary refreshments, he added.
Mr. Yadav said that other attractions during the Festival would include the Crafts Bazaar, which would be the main crowd-puller where unique handlooms and intricate handicrafts by crafts persons from across the country would be on display. The multi-cuisine Food Court would be another major attraction of the Festival. A wide range of mouth-watering dishes like Jaipur’s Dal Bati Churma, Mughlai kebabs and biryanis, Gohana’s famous jaleba, et al, would tantalise the taste buds of one and all. Apart from this, State Institutes of Hotel Management, Panipat and Yamunanagar, would also set up stalls for sale of food and beverage items.
Besides, Haryana Roadways would run special buses between Chandigarh-Panchkula-Pinjore at short intervals for the Festival, Mr. Yadav said.
He added that the grandeur of the royal Mughal Gardens, with fortress walls, ramparts, bastions and palaces, offers a perfect backdrop for the Pinjore Heritage Festival. This Festival encapsulates traditional flavours and is truly a tribute to these world-famous Mughal Gardens that form the venue for this event.
The Garden palace was built in the 17th century by Emperor Aurangzeb’s trusted lieutenant and foster brother, Fidai Khan. This Garden has been laid at seven levels on a descending scale. Natural springs blended with a hilly terrain, displaying plentiful use of moving water in this lush, terraced garden, he added.
