Applications invited for Pre-Matric Scholarship

CHANDIGARH, JULY 25
Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Department has invited applications online for Pre-Matric Scholarship for the year 2016-17, by July 31, 2016.
While stating this here today, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan  Kumar said that  applications should be in prescribed format from regular students belonging to the Minority communities, which included Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains notified by the Central government. He said that students who are pursuing their education from classes I to X in Government and private recognized schools or aided institutions are eligible as per eligibility criteria and conditions.
He said that to avail  the benefit of scholarship, the student should be resident of Haryana. Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of parents or guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs one lakh. Income certificate from employer, for employed parent and guardian, will be required. However, in case of others, certificate issued by the competent authority declared by the government would be required. It included Sub Divisional Magistrate or Tehsildar and self declaration by student or parents.
He said that minority certificate should be issued by first class Magistrate,  which included Sub Divisional Magistrate or Tehsildar and self declaration by the student or parents, without which application would be rejected. Aadhar Card Number is mandatory for applying online. The scholarship amount of student, under pre-matric scholarship will be disbursed directly to the bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. He said that the continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years would depend on successful completion of the course with 50 per cent marks during proceeding year. The scholarship holder under this scheme will not be able to avail any other scholarship or stipend for pursuing the course, he added.
Mr. Krishan Kumar said that the Aadhar linked bank accounts for eligible student should be opened in the name of the student. The  student should fill their Bank Account Number, Pan Card Number for applying online application and their Bank Account Number should be Aadhaar-enabled. He said that 30 per cent of the scholarships would be reserved for girl students in each community. Scholarship will not be given to more than two students in a family.
He said that admission fee  of Rs. 500 per annum subject to actual would be given to hostellers as well as day scholars from classes VI to X. Similarly, tuition fee of Rs. 350 per month subject to actual would be given to hostellers as well as day scholars from classes VI to X . Maintenance allowance is payable for a period not exceeding 10 months in an academic year.In case of  classes I to V it would be Rs. 100 per month for day scholars and for classes VI to X Rs. 600 per month subject to actual hostlers and Rs. 100 per month for day scholars, he added.
He said that eligible students could apply online on the website www.scholarship.gov.in . He said that it was mandatory for students of classes I to X to apply for Pre-Matric scholarship online. The offline application will be rejected.
