The Haryana government has re-constituted the Council of Indian Medicine, Haryana and has nominated Dr Rishi Raj Vashishth of Jagadhri as its Chairman. The government has also nominated its two non-official members.
While giving this information here today, the Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij said that the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has given his approval to reconstitute the Council. The Council has a total of 11 members, of which seven members were elected through elections and four were nominated by the government.
He said that the two new non-official members included Dr Dinesh Garg of Ambala Cantt. and Dr Manoj of Karnal. Director, AYUSH Department and Dean of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak are ex-officio members of the Council. He said that the seven elected members of the Council included Devendra Bohar of Bhiwani, Jitendra of Fatehabad, Satendra Khatri and Kartar Singh of Sonepat, Praveen Chhabra of Yamunanagar, , Nirmala Devi of Jind and Humakha related to Unani system of medicine from Faridabad.
The Health Minister said that about 8,157 doctors, who are serving in different parts of the State, are registered under the Council . AYUSH wing has been established at Civil Hospitals in all 21 districts of the state. AYUSH OPDs are functioning in 92 Community Health Centers and AYUSH centers are running in 100 Primary Health Centers.
Mr. Vij said that Institute of Indian Systems of Medicine and Research has been established by AYUSH department in Panchkula. In addition, 100-bed Ayurvedic hospital in Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, 25-bed hospital in Bhiwani, 10-bed Ayurvedic Hospital in Imlota, Bhiwani and 10 bed Unani hospital in Palwal have been established. Also, six Ayurvedic Primary Health Centers, 458 dispensaries and 18 Unani dispensaries are functioning.
