Sanitation survey in 75 major cities completed

CHANDIGARH, JAN 11
 The sanitation survey being conducted by the Union Ministry of Urban Development and Quality Council of India across 75 major cities was completed today, and the results of this survey would be declared on the Government’s citizen engagement website mygov.in on January 25, 2016.
As many as 75 cities, including Gurgaon, Faridabad and Chandigarh, were selected in the first phase of this pilot project. Data was collected from the Municipal Corporations, and teams carried out on-the-spot assessment of sanitation situation. Apart from this, information was also gathered through citizen feedback.
The Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on October 2, 2014, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. The sanitation survey was undertaken as part of this Mission in order to judge the sanitation and hygiene of the selected cities to ensure cleanliness.
