The Chinese city of Shaoxing and District Administration Rewari would have sister city relationship thus further strengthening bilateral relations between India and China.
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Mahohar Lal who had a meeting with Mr. Ruan Jian Yong, Deputy Director of National People’s Congress of Shaoxing in Shanghai today was informed through a written communication that at present “we are engaged in friendship city relations with 41 foreign cities from 19 countries but it’s regrettable that we have not concluded a friendship city relationship with an Indian city. It is our sincere hope that city of Shaoxing and District Administration Rewari could develop a form of friendship and exchange relationship on the basis of our successful business ties with Haryana State. We are convinced that exchanges between governments will facilitate the further development of enterprises in Shaoxing and Rewari, which will undoubtedly enhance our future exchanges and co-operation to a higher level”.
It was informed in the communication that Shaoxing entrepreneurs established 28 investment projects in India with a total investment of 120 million USD. Among them, Indian Wanfeng Auto wheel Co. Ltd set up by Zhejiang Wanfeng Auto Holding group was built up in District Administration Rewari of Haryana state in 2013 with a total investment of 52,677 million USD. It is the largest investment project made by Shaoxing entrepreneurs in India so far. It is worth noting that an increasing no of Shaoxing enterprises have been showing their strong interest in investing in India.
Mr. Ruan Jian Yong, who handed over the letter to Haryana Chief stated that he would visit India and Haryana, especially district Rewari for a sister city arrangement between Shaoxing and Rewari.
The communication further hoped that they can reach some agreement in this friendship city issue. With an open and advanced economy, Shaoxing is a city of enormous vitality. It is one of the front runners in economic strength and the fourth largest economy in Zhejiang Province. In 2015, its GDP was 457.5 billion yuan and per capita GDP was $ 14,000. Over 5900 foreign enterprises from more than 50 countries and regions have made their projects in Shaoxing. It has been rated by World Bank as one of the six “China Gold Medal City” in terms of investment environment.
Mr Manohar Lal also invited him to participate in the Happening Haryana Summit in March 2016.
Earlier the delegation led by Haryana Chief Minister reached Shanghai from Beijing late last night.
Mr. Devender Singh, Principal Secretary Industries and Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation also interacted with the businesspersons and investors in a roundtable organized by CII in Shanghai. During the interaction a presentation on Haryana was made and the queries of the participants concerning investment in Haryana were promptly responded.
