‘One MP-One Idea’ competition

With a view to foster, a grass-root bottoms-up approach to innovation and development and to arrive at solutions for local problems which are sustainable and scalable,the Central Government has decided to have ‘One MP-One Idea’ competition in each Lok Sabha constituency  annually. The aim of the competition is to select three best innovations for cash awards.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Government  said that for the competition, innovative solutions would be invited in the areas of education and skills, health, water and sanitation, housing and infrastructure, agriculture, energy, environment and community and social service. He said that there was a need for campaigning for ideas that have the potential to solve challenges.
He said that innovative solutions could be submitted either directly by any individual or by a group of individuals, industry,  academia, NGO or other institution from the constituency. Also, innovations could be nominated by reputed people in the constituency in the capacity of third party having knowledge of the nominated innovative solution, he added.
He said that following a transparent process, a Selection Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa would select three best innovations from this competition. He said that Certificate of Honour and cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs one lakh would be given away to first, second and third prize winner respectively by Mr. Ashok Tanwar, Member of Parliament from Sirsa in a public function. He said that certificates of appreciation would also be given for next five best innovations based on the list prepared by the Selection Committee. Innovative Solutions for Sirsa Parliamentary Constituency must reach Deputy Commissioner, Sirsa by September 30, 2012, he added.
