Application invited for Chief Information Commissioner

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 23
The Haryana Government has invited applications to fill the post of State Chief Information Commissioner in the State Information Commission, latest by April 21, 2016.
          While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that it has been decided to appoint State Chief Information Commissioner after the retirement of Mr. Naresh Gulati, IAS, (Retd.), in the Commission.He said that the State Government has constituted the State Information Commission under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The Act provides that the State Chief Information Commissioner should be a person of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience in law, science and technology, social service, management, journalism, mass media or administration and governance.The State Chief Information Commissioner should not be a Member of Parliament or a Member of Legislature of any State or Union Territory or hold any other office of profit or connected with any political party or carrying on any business or pursuing any profession. The cessation or termination of holding of office of profit, pursuing any profession or carrying any business is a condition precedent to the appointment of a person as State Chief Information Commissioner.
          He said that the State Chief Information Commissioner would hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters his office or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. The salary and allowances payable to him would be the same as that of Election Commissioner subject to adjustment of the pensionary or retirement benefits availed by him, if any, in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
          He said that persons fulfilling the criteria for appointment as State Chief Information Commissioner and interested for appointment to the post may send their particulars in the prescribed proforma by post to the office of Secretary to Government, Haryana, Administrative Reforms Department, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. Persons serving under the State or Central Governments or any other organisation may send their particulars through proper channel, he added.
