Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the Deputy Commissioners of 10 districts have sent reports of damage caused to the crops like wheat and mustard in about 250 villages due to strong winds, rain and hail storm during March 2016. These districts included Bhiwani, Jind, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jhajjar, Kaithal, Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonipat and Mewat.
Capt Abhimanyu was replying to a call attention notice during the ongoing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
He said that the state government had ordered Special Girdwari of Rabi crops in those villages where damage to crops was reported. He said that the government is deeply conscious of its responsibility to safeguard the interests of the farmers and the task of disbursement of compensation for damaged crops would be taken up immediately after the special girdawari reports were received.
He said that information regarding damage to crops was sought from all the Deputy Commissioners. As reported by the Deputy Commissioners of 11 districts, there had been no loss to crops in these districts due to strong winds, rain and hail storm. These eleven districts included Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Faridabad, Palwal, Mahendergarh, Gurgaon, Panipat and Karnal.
He said that the state government had sanctioned Rs 2224.66 crore to the affected farmers for damage to the crops due to drought, flood, hailstorm and pest attack in 2015-16. The arrears of Rs 268.93 crore for 2013-14 and 2014-15 were also given during 2015-16.
