Panchkula, Jind, Narnaul and Mewat districts to be honoured

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 4
 Haryana Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs Kavita Jain said that State Level Nutrition Awards for 2015-16 would be given away to four best performing districts at a State level Sports Meet and Mahila Samman Samaroh to be organized at Rajiv Gandhi Khel Parisar, village Siwah in district  Panipat on March 9, 2016. The Chief Minister,  Mr Manohar Lal would be the Chief Guest and would give away awards and prizes to the winners. The function is being organized by Women and Child Development Department to mark the International Women’s Day, she added.
          She said that  the State Level Nutrition Awards would be given away to four best performing districts of Panchkula, Jind, Narnaul and Mewat as they had shown maximum improvement in the nutritional status of children below six years of age. Panchkula district had ranked first  and would get  Rs two lakh in cash, district Jind being second would get Rs one lakh in cash. She said that district Narnaul and Mewat  being third  would get  Rs 25,000 each. These districts have been selected on the basis of parameters defined by the department which included  weight and nutritional status of children and special efforts made by the district for improving nutritional status.
          She said that the award money would be utilized by the districts for undertaking any activity contributing towards development and welfare of children, strengthening health education, holding competitions or demonstrations or camps  or to give away incentive awards to field functionaries,  mothers, community, panchayat and to undertake awareness drives.
          Mrs Jain said that the events of this sports meet would include Potato Race, Matka Race and 100 meters race for women above the age of 30 years and 300 meters race, 400 meters race and five Km cycle race for girls below the age of 30 years.
          She said that those 126 participants from 21 districts, who had secured first position in each event at district level would only participate in this meet. Each of the participants would get Rs 500 as incentive money. The winners of the State Level Sports Meet securing first three positions would be given away awards of Rs. 3,100, Rs 2,100 and Rs 1,100  respectively by the Chief Minister. The objective of Sports Meet is to encourage the rural women to take part in sports and infuse among them a sense of confidence and promote participation of rural women in government programmes, she added.
GRIEF OVER SANGMA'S DEATH: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has expressed grief over the sad demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr P. A. Sangma, who passed away following cardiac arrest  in New Delhi today. He was 68.
          In a condolence message issued here today, the Chief Minister described Mr Sangma as seasoned statesman who worked relentlessly for amelioration of the marginalised sections of the society. Mr Sangma had also served as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya before being  elected as Speaker.
          The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul might rest in peace.
VIDHAN SABHA SUMMONED: Haryana Vidhan Sabha has been summoned to meet in the hall of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Bhawan, Chandigarh at 2 p.m. on March 14,2016.
          Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki will address the members of the Vidhan Sabha at 2 p.m on March 14.
TIMELY COMPENSATION:  With a view to provide timely compensation, Haryana Government has launched toll-free helpline number 1800-1373-825. Claimants may call this number to provide information regarding damage caused to their properties in the recent law and order disturbance in the State.
        While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that claimants could call the helpline number from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on any working day. The helpline number would not be available on Sunday.
        He said that the claimants could also submit their claims and related information in written to the Deputy Commissioners of their area.
