The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, today announced approval for a 10-lane synthetic track for athletics at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the concluding function of the three-day ‘Bharat Kesari Kushti Dangal’ organized on the occasion of Shaheedi Divas in Gurgaon today. Mausam Khatri of Haryana won the first place in the Dangal and was awarded cash prize of Rs 1 crore.
The state government wants to make Haryana a sports hub. Whatever scheme the Sports Department brings for further promotion of sports in the state is approved. Lucrative cash prizes of crores of rupees under the New Sports Policy would help in further promotion of
sports in the state.
Mr Manohar Lal said that Sports and Physical Exercise Evaluation and Development (SPEED) Programme had been implemented under the New Sports Policy under which 5,000 outstanding players at school level would be selected. Those selected would be provided better facilities from school level so that they could bring laurels to the state in future.
Sports schools on the pattern of Rai would be opened at other places in the state. Vyayamshalas would be opened on two acres in villages and 1,000 such Vyayamshalas would be started this year. He said that trainers would be engaged in these Vyayamshalas and for this purpose, services of ex-servicemen, yogarcharyas or former trainers of the Sports Department could be hired.
Earlier, while paying rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, in whose memory the Dangal was held, the Chief Minister said that it was on this day that they kissed the gallows during the freedom movement and gifted us Independence.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister administered the oath of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’ to all those who were present. The oath administered by Mr Manohar Lal read, “Maine Haryana Mein Janam Liya Hai Aur Main Haryana Pradesh Ke Liye Kartavyanishtha Samarpit Rahunga.
Main Shapath Leta Hun Ki Har Gali, Har Mohalle Aur Shehar Mein Yeh Sandesh Ko Pahunchaunga Ki Sadbhav Souhadr Aur Majboot Ho”.
