Haryana has bagged National Award under the category “State Nodal Agency- General Category States” at the National Workshop on Rooftop Solar Power in New Delhi today.The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Piyush Goyal and received by Principal Secretary, Renewable Energy Department, Mr. Ankur Gupta.
Mr. Ankur Gupta said that Haryana is amongst the leading states in the country in promotion of renewable energy solution. He said that the Government of India has set a target of 40,000 MW of Roof Top Solar (RTS) power as part of Clean Climate commitments. Therefore, Haryana has taken effective steps in creating conducive atmosphere in the field of Rooftop Solar Power in the State. Haryana is the first state in the country to make installation of Solar Power Plants mandatory in certain categories of buildings.
He said that for promoting the rooftop solar power, the Government is providing 30 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of Rs. 20000 per kWp, for certain categories of buildings. A total of 18.3 MW capacity roof top solar power plants (Grid Tied/connected) have been installed in the state. He said that the Department is also organizing trainings on net-metering of the Grid Connected Solar Power Plant in consultation with National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Gurgaon for the field staff.
The Principal Secretary said that Haryana government has notified an investor friendly “Haryana Solar Power Policy-2016” which was launched by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal on March 8, 2016 . Haryana Power Utilities have signed Power Purchase Agreements for 23 MW Solar Power and also issued Letter of Intent for the purchase of 165 MW of Solar Power.
