Rashtrapati Bhawan Secretariat team visits five villages adopted by President

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 28
A team from Rashtrapati Bhawan Secretariat today visited the five villages adopted by the President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in Haryana  to develop them as ‘smart villages’.
          This scheme would be launched by the President on July 2 in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, in a function at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. The function would be attended by representatives from NITI Aayog, Union Ministry for Rural Development, Agriculture and other aligned departments.
          The team from Rashtrapati Bhawan Secretariat included Director, Rashtrapati Bhawan Secretariat, Mr. N.K. Sudhanshu, Officer on Special Duty to President, Mr. Abhijeet Rai, representative of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Mr. Krishan Gaur and NIC Delhi, Mr. S.D. Sharma.
          The team held a brief meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Mr. T.L. Satyaprakash and it was attended by office heads of Agriculture, Power Utilities, Public Health Engineering, Health, Education and other aligned departments.
          In the meeting it was informed that the President would launch the scheme to develop these five adopted villages namely Alipur, Daula, Harchandpur and Tajnagar of district Gurgaon and Rozka Meo of district Mewat as ‘Smart Village’ on July 2. Mr. Sudhanshu said that a delegation of villagers from these five villages and officers concerned would be invited in this function at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi. He said that other villagers would be able to see the proceedings of the function on LED screen in their villages. He said that the President would also interact directly with the villagers and students in their respective villages through webcast.
          He said that after the launch, meetings of Gram Sabhas would be organised on July 3 and 4 for discussing issues with the villagers. On July 3, Gram Sabha meetings would be held in villages Alipur and Tajnagar, and on July 4, meetings would be held at villages Daula, Harchandpur and Rozka Meo. The team from Rashtrapati Bhawan would also attend these meetings. After these meetings, five-day training course for villagers on general issues like agriculture, irrigation and sanitation would also be organised in each of these villages.
          He said that a survey of present infrastructure and facilities available in these villages would be got conducted and ‘Village Development Plan’ would be prepared in consultation with the villagers on the pattern of ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’. Provision of adequate electricity supply, drinking water supply, health and sanitation facilities would be made on priority basis in these villages. These would be provided through convergence method, by roping in schemes of Centre and State governments, utilising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and private institutions and researches conducted by universities. Cooperation would also be sought from the villagers. Mr. Sudhanshu was of the opinion that if we work together with the cooperation of villagers, majority of the problems in villages can be solved.
          He said that Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Mr. T.L. Satyaprakash would be Programme Leader, under whose guidance this scheme would be implemented and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, would serve as Co-ordinator.
          Later on, the team, alongwith Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, visited these five villages and interacted with the villagers.
