CHANDIGARH, JAN 4
With a view to encourage the girls to forge ahead with confidence and reach the pinnacle of success, and to create a positive mindset in favour of daughters, the Karnal District Administration has decided to organise special screening of the film ‘Dangal’ for 924 such families in the villages who have four or more daughters.
While stating this today, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, Dr. Priyanka Soni, said that screening of the film was held for such families of villages in block Karnal, at a mall in Karnal today.
She said that the film, which chronicles the rise of sisters Geeta and Babita Phogat as medal-winning wrestlers, and the efforts made by their father, Mr. Mahavir Singh Phogat, would serve as a source of inspiration for these families. While the story of the sisters would motivate them to work hard and shine at their chosen fields, the character of Mr. Phogat, who went against the prevalent mindset of the society and helped his daughters shine at their chosen sport at the international level, would serve as an example for all parents. The film screenings would also give a boost to the ambitious ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ programme, she added.
The girls, some of whom were watching a film in a mall for the first time, were visibly excited and expressed their happiness over watching the film. They said that after watching ‘Dangal’, they were now feeling motivated to work hard and pursue sports along with their studies.
