The first ever Pravasi Haryana began with several announcements in Gurugram today. While Union Textiles Minister, Mrs Smriti Irani announced to set up a Carpet Cluster at Panipat and Hosiery Cluster in Sirsa, Haryana Chief Minister announced to set up two NRI Cells to safeguard the interests of the NRIs. The Haryana Government announced to shortly introduce sectoral policies including Aerospace and Defence Policy, IT and ESDM Policy, Retail Policy, Start Up and Innovation Policy, Textile Policy and Food Processing Policy.

The Union Textiles Minster urged the Haryana Chief Minster Mr Manohar Lal that as a part of our initiative and design, the Central Government would support a Trade Facility Centre in Panipat. Besides, the government would also support major design initiative so that apart from weaving industries, Haryana can have a huge influx into the industry and see the second and third generation take the legacy of Panipat forward.
Mrs. Irani said that district Sirsa produces about 40 per cent cotton in Haryana. “If we seek to enlarge the component of industry and strengthen their base in conjunction with famers, I am hopeful that, we in Government of India and with the support of Government of Haryana, can soon open a special hosiery cluster only for the district of Sirsa so that the state could have more and more employment opportunities”. She also lauded the contribution of Gurugram in export of readymade garments. She urged the Parvasi Haryanvis to be a part of Sweh Prerit Adarsh Gram Yojna and contribute in the development of the state. This will not only ensure the strengthening of industry but would also give a strength to the humanity.

The Union Minister of Steel, Mr Birender Singh said that at present, India is the third largest producer of steel followed by Japan but as per the recent data India would surpass Japan in steel production in coming few months. While stressing the need for setting up of scrap based steel production units, he said that the Central Government is contemplating to bring a policy for the same. He exhorted the Pravashi Haryanvis to come up with such projects as making steel from scrap is not only cost effective but also environment friendly.
Mr Birender Singh said though industrialization is considered as the only way to move forward yet the contribution of farming community in the development process could not be forgotten. He said that like Haryana and Punjab farmers in Australia and other Latin American countries have similar kind of attachment with the land but in the recent times a complete transformation has also been witnessed in the agriculture techniques and added that there is a need to acquaint the farmers with these techniques to increase their production. He said that Haryana being a small state with having only two per cent of the total population of the country contributing 23 per cent foodgrains to the National Kitty.
While exhorting the Pravashi Haryanvis to connect with their roots, he said that Haryana has a lot of potential in youth of Haryana and by supporting and contributing a bit, they could produce best of shooters, wrestlers and athletes. He said that their significant contribution would be of great help in the speedy development of Haryana.
Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Haryana Industries Minister Mr Vipul Goel said that the first ever Pravasi Haryana Divas reignited passion among them to contribute in the development of Haryana. He said that there was a time when they left Haryana to other places to explore business opportunities but now Haryana has changed and the entire country is watching towards our State. He said that as Haryana has ample opportunities, Parvasi Haryanvis should come forward and become a partner in the development of the State and also increase their business. He said that apart from making investment in the State, they could also register their significant contribution by ensuring socio-economic development of villages under the Swa-Prerit Adarsh Gram Yojna.
The Vice President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII),Rakesh Bharti Mittal was all praise for the vision of the Prime Minister saying that country is in ‘mission-mode’ and has been the largest recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) over the past year. Haryana’s FDI flow has touched 62 billion dollars since 2000 and the state is now shifting to a new phase of rapid development. Owing to the dynamic policy initiatives of the state government, the Ease of Doing Business rankings has improved from 14th position to 6th. Confederation of Indian Industry has been working closely with the Government of Haryana to improve productivity, generate employment and improve the plight of the underprivileged sections of society. The partnership between the two will continue to grow and strengthen as the state moves forward under its dynamic leadership. He urged the Haryana diaspora to contribute to develop their motherland.”
