Election Commission introduces National Media Award

CHANDIGARH, OCT 6
 Election Commission of India has decided to give National Media Award for the best campaign on voter’s education and awareness carried out by the Media Houses in the state during year 2017.
Giving this information here today, an official spokesman said that this award would be given under four categories print media, electronic (television) media, electronic media (radio) and online (internet) or social media.
          He said that all relevant media houses of the state can send their nomination through the Chief Electoral Officer of the State or directly to the Election Commission of India, with the proof of their contribution to make the voters aware. He said that all such recommendations and entries should reach the Election Commission office by October 30, 2017.
          He said that the awards would be presented in a function on the National Voters’ Day onJanuary 25, 2018. These would be given in recognition of outstanding contribution by Media Houses to promote electoral participation by educating people about the electoral process and raising awareness among the general public about the relevance and importance of voting and registration. 
Referring to the eligibility norms and conditions, he said that print entries should include summary of the work carried out during the relevant period having number of news items or articles an total print area in square meter, a PDF soft copy or link to relevant web address or a full size photocopy or print copy of the newspaper or article  and detailed information about any other activity.
          He said that in the case of electronic media (television) and electronic media (radio), such entries should include material in a CD or DVD or pen drive with duration and frequency of broadcast or telecast and total time of such broadcast of each spot, sum of total broadcast time for all spots or news, soft copy of news features or programmes on voter awareness alongwith duration, telecast or broadcast date and time and frequency and any other activity. 
          The entries of online (internet) or social media should be forwarded in a PDF soft copy of articles concerned or a link to the relevant web address and details about impact of online activities. 
          He told that entries submitted in a language other than English or Hindi would require an accompanying English translation. Applicants who would send broadcasting material should know that the jury would take a decision on the feature or program only in the first 10 minutes. 
          The entries complete in all respect should reach to Under Secretary (Communications) Election Commission of India, Nirvachan  Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi by post or by e-mail  at diwaneci@yahoo.co.in before the last date.
