LTC incentives to industrial workers in Haryana

The Haryana Government has introduced a new scheme to provide financial assistance to industrial workers in the form of Leave Travel Concession (LTC) amounting to Rs 1000 to visit religious places. Under this scheme LTC facility will be provided to workers during each block year.
          While stating this today, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Shiv Charan Lal Sharma said that the aim of this scheme is to provide an opportunity to industrial workers to visit famous religious places of Haridwar, Rishikesh, Ajmer, Amritsar and Mata Vishno Devi Mandir.
          He said that the Kanyadan Yojna is being implemented by the board for the daughters of workers on the occasion of their marriage and an amount of Rs 51,000 is being provided to them. Initially, an amount of Rs 21,000 was provided to the daughter of workers. The benefit of this scheme is available only up to two daughters. The aim of this scheme is to remove the feeling of burden of female child in the society. An amount of Rs 12.35 crore have already been distributed to 6565 dependents of industrial workers under the scheme, he added.
          He said that a scheme of scholarship is being implemented for the children of industrial workers who have secured 50 per cent or above marks in the exam conducted by the Schools, Boards or Universities under which financial help ranging from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 12000 is being given. Students from 9th Class to Postgraduate level and diploma, Postgraduate diploma and degree level courses are covered under the scheme and an amount of about Rs 18.77 crore have so far been spent for 42378 dependents of industrial workers under the scheme, he added.
          He said that financial assistance to provide computer training to the children of the Industrial workers is also being given. He said that under the scheme, children of the labourer who are getting short term training from the institutions run by the Hartron or any other institution affiliated to Hartron or from the Haryana Technical Education Department are given fee assistance.
          He said that Haryana Labour Welfare Board has launched a separate scheme for dental care of workers and their family members. Under this scheme an amount of Rs 1200 is being provided to the workers and so far an amount of Rs 9.85 lakh have been spent on 815 dependents of industrial workers.
