Online admission mandatory in Govt Colleges in Haryana

The Haryana Higher Education Department   has made online admission mandatory in government colleges from the next academic session. Provision has been made for the generation of online merit and admission lists. Seekers will be electronically notified the outcome of admission through SMS and e-mail alerts. A Public Grievance Cell has been put in place for the benefit of students.
            This was disclosed by Haryana Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Mr. S.S Prasad, while presiding over a meeting of principals of government colleges affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, Senior officers and 56 principals of government colleges affiliated to MDU, also attended the meeting.
          Mr Prasad said that information regarding various scholarships, schemes and facilities for students in different colleges had been made available online. Students can now apply for scholarships online. Details of various courses in each college are also available online.
            Lecturers of all classes would now have to maintain lesson plans registers and pay special attention to the academic standards in their respective colleges. The register should clearly display the topics to be taken up in a month, and report of their timely completion to be authenticated by the principal.
            Mr Prasad said that the principal would take monthly meeting to take stock of the progress made by individual teachers and the outcome would form part of the ACR of the teacher. Officers from the headquarters would inspect their colleges and check the lesson plan registers of teachers, duly authenticated by the principals.
            The number of seats in commerce and science streams has been increased in all such government colleges as are facing huge demand. Similarly, many new courses have been sanctioned to various private aided colleges.
            The Director General, Higher Education, Mr Ankur Gupta, told the principals to conduct surprise checking of the assignments. Lecturers must also keep the record and answer-sheets of monthly tests alive until a month after the end of the semester which would be checked by officers from the headquarters.
Principals would ensure that teachers keep their hours. If leave duly approved by the principal and entered in the leave record, is not found, the teacher would be treated absent and would lose day’s salary, Mr Gupta added.
            A decision was taken at the meeting to set up language labs in such colleges as have rooms available for the purpose. The principals have been delegated powers to purchase and install CCTV as per requirement by following due procedure. Grants for the purpose would be sanctioned by the department.
