The Haryana Higher Education Department
has made online admission mandatory in government
colleges from the next academic session. Provision has been made for
the generation of online merit and admission lists. Seekers will be
electronically notified the outcome of admission through SMS and e-mail alerts.
A Public Grievance Cell has been put in place for the benefit of students.
This was disclosed by Haryana Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department,
Mr. S.S Prasad, while presiding over a meeting of principals of government
colleges affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, Senior
officers and 56 principals of government colleges affiliated to MDU, also
attended the meeting.
Mr Prasad said that
information regarding various scholarships, schemes and facilities for students
in different colleges had been made available online. Students can now apply
for scholarships online. Details of various courses in each college are also
available online.
Lecturers of all classes would now have to maintain lesson plans registers and
pay special attention to the academic standards in their respective colleges.
The register should clearly display the topics to be taken up in a month, and
report of their timely completion to be authenticated by the principal.
Mr Prasad said that the principal would take monthly meeting to take stock of
the progress made by individual teachers and the outcome would form part of the
ACR of the teacher. Officers from the headquarters would inspect their colleges
and check the lesson plan registers of teachers, duly authenticated by the
principals.
The number of seats in commerce and science streams has been increased in all
such government colleges as are facing huge demand. Similarly, many new courses
have been sanctioned to various private aided colleges.
The Director General, Higher Education, Mr Ankur Gupta, told the principals to
conduct surprise checking of the assignments. Lecturers must also keep the
record and answer-sheets of monthly tests alive until a month after the end of
the semester which would be checked by officers from the headquarters.
Principals would ensure that teachers keep their hours.
If leave duly approved by the principal and entered in the leave record, is not
found, the teacher would be treated absent and would lose day’s salary, Mr
Gupta added.
A decision was taken at the meeting to set up language labs in such colleges as
have rooms available for the purpose. The principals have been delegated powers
to purchase and install CCTV as per requirement by following due procedure.
Grants for the purpose would be sanctioned by the department.
