Gas connection to every household by next year: CM

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 21
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that cooking gas connections would be provided to every household within the next one year, and the state would be made kerosene-free.
       The Chief Minister was attending a gram sabha meeting organised under the ‘Gram Uday se Bharat Uday’ campaign in the village of Shyamtoo in Panchkula district, today.
       The ‘Gram Uday se Bharat Uday’ campaign is being run in 5.5 lakh villages of the country, including more than 6,000 villages in Haryana. The campaign was launched by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, to promote rural development and social harmony, on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on April 14.
       Describing gram sabha as a strong unit of democracy, he urged the people to actively participate in its meetings and draft a framework for development works and future schemes.
       The Prime Minister would address all gram panchayats through television and radio from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on April 24 on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day. This broadcast would also be shown at the Vikas Rally to be organised in Panchkula the same day, the Chief Minister added.
       He announced construction of a gymnasium on two acres in Shyamtoo village and a community centre between the villages of Kanauli and Shyamtoo. He also assured resolution of the problems pertaining to electricity, water and flies in the village.
       Mr. Gian Chand Gupta, MLA, said that villages would be strengthened through the gram sabhas being organised under the ‘Gram Uday se Bharat Uday’ campaign and development works would be identified and executed with the assistance of the people.
