Wheat arrival in Haryana mandis touches new high

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 22
Wheat arrival in the mandis of Haryana has touched a new high of 55,93,184 Metric Tonnes (MT). As compared to it, only 25,26,733 MT of wheat had arrived in the mandis during the corresponding period last year.
          While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that the procurement process was running smoothly in the mandis of the State.
          He said that out of the total arrival, 55,92,717 MT of wheat have been purchased by the government procurement agencies at Minimum Support Price.
          Giving details of the wheat procured by government agencies, he said that more than 19.85 lakh MT of wheat has been procured by HAFED, whereas Food and Supplies Department has purchased over 15.01 lakh MT of wheat. Haryana Warehousing Corporation has purchased over 9.92 lakh MT of wheat, Food Corporation of India has purchased over 6.14 lakh MT, and over 4.98 lakh MT of wheat have been procured by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation. He said that apart from this, 467 MT of wheat have been procured by traders.
          He said that district Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where more than 7.42 lakh MT of wheat have so far arrived in the mandis. District Karnal has recorded arrival of more than 6.01 lakh MT, district Jind more than 5.71 lakh MT, district Kaithal had more than 5.51 lakh MT, district Fatehabad received more than 4.37 lakh MT, district Kurukshetra more than 4.33 lakh MT, and district Hisar has recorded arrival of more than 3.64 lakh MT. Similarly, district Sonepat has recorded arrival of more than 3.20 lakh MT of wheat, district Panipat more than 2.32 lakh MT, district Palwal more than 2.32 lakh MT, district Ambala more than 2.09 lakh MT, district Rohtak more than 1.90 lakh MT, district Yamunanagar more than 1.66 lakh MT and district Bhiwani more than 1.59 lakh MT. District Jhajjar has recorded arrival of more than 1.09 lakh MT of wheat, district Faridabad 85,278 MT, district Mewat 59,720 MT, district Gurgaon 48,938 MT, district Rewari 33,479 MT, Narnaul 23,019 MT and in district Panchkula 22,868 MT of wheat has so far arrived in the mandis.
 SANT  AMRIK DIES:Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal has expressed grief over the sad demise of Sant Amrik Dev Ji of Nirmal Dham in Karnal late last night. He had been ailing for a long time.
    In a condolence message issued here today, Mr Manohar Lal described Sant Amrik Dev Ji as a great saint who dedicated his entire life to render selfless service to the society. He also undertook many welfare measures for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden.
      ADDITIONAL CHARGE: The Chief Minister said that in his death the society has been deprived of a great social worker.
  Haryana Government today ordered that  Chander Shekhar, Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad will also hold the additional charge of Special Secretary and Director, Archaeology and Museums Department against a vacant post.
