The Haryana Government has decided to rename Gurgaon as Gurugram and Mewat as Nuh.
While stating this here today an official spokesman said that the decision to change the name of Gurgaon as Gurugram has been taken on the basis of the representations received at several fora that it would be appropriate to rename Gurgaon as Gurugram. He said that Haryana is a historic land of the Bhagwat Gita and Gurgaon had been a centre of learning. It had been known as Gurgaon since the times of Guru Dronacharya. Gurgaon was a great center of education where the princes used to be provided education. Therefore, since long the people of the area had been demanding that Gurgaon be renamed as Gurugram.
He said that Mewat, in fact is a geographical and cultural unit and not a town. It is spread beyond Haryana in the adjoining States of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Headquarters of Mewat district is at Nuh town. The people of area and the elected representatives had been demanding that the name of Mewat be changed as Nuh.
He said that the Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal has approved the proposal to change the names of Gurgaon and Mewat.
HOLIDAY ON MAHAVIR JAYANTI: The Haryana Government has declared Gazetted holiday on April 19 on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti instead of April 20, 2016, already notified.
While stating this here today an official spokesman said that the Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved the proposal on the basis of a representation received from President Vishva Jain Sangathan , Delhi Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jain pointing out that the actual date of Mahavir Jayanti is April 19 and not April 20.
Chandigarh, April 12- Director General, Haryana State Vigilance Bureau, Mr Parmender Rai has rewarded Assistant Sub Inspector, Mr Satish Kumar posted in Vigilance Department, Rohtak in recognition of his efficiency and outstanding performance in getting a complaint resolved.
Mr Satish Kumar was awarded a CC-1 certificate and Rs 1000 in cash.
NEW NAME OF AGRICULTURAL DEPTT: The Haryana Government has decided to change the name of Agriculture Department as Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department (Krishi Evam Kisan Kalyan Vibhag). While giving this information here today, an official spokesman said that a decision to this effect has been taken on recommendations of the National Commission of Farmers. The proposal to this effect has been approved by Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, he added.
AMBALA CANTT WAR MEMORIAL: The Haryana Government has constituted a four-member committee to finalise the architectural drawings and scope of work regarding construction of War Memorial at Ambala Cantt. in the honour of Martyrs of the First War of India’s Independence-1857.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the members of the committee included Senior Architect, Architecture Department Mr P.K Nanda, Superintending Engineer Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, Ambala Mr P.K Goel, Joint Director (Field), Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, Mr Kuldip Saini and Accounts Officer (Audit), Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department, Mr Arun Garg.
He said that the committee would examine the matter and submit its
recommendations within 15 days.
FILING OF RETURNS: In order to give relief to those registered dealers who have been affected during the reservation agitation in February, 2016 Mr Manohar Lal, Chief Minister, Haryana has approved a proposal of Excise and Taxation Department to extend the time limit for filing of returns for the quarter ending 31.03.2016 under the Haryana Value Added Tax Act, 2003 and under the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 by three months.
Giving this information here today Capt. Abhimanyu said that an affected registered dealer who has lodged a valid claim for compensation within the prescribed period before the appropriate authority designated by the Government for this purpose, may furnish his quarterly return for the quarter ending 31.03.2016 up to 31.07.2016 under the HVAT Act, 2003 and CST Act, 1956.
