Haryana may implement Right to Play Act

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the State Government was considering to implement  Right to Play Act so as to ensure all round development of  children.
          Mr. Hooda was speaking at ‘Bol India Bol’ programme organized here today by Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department  where he  flagged off two vehicles for the ‘Best of Luck India Roadshow’ campaign.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Hooda said that the campaign would provide a platform to the people to wish Best of Luck (BOL) to the Indian contingent at the London Olympics, 2012. He said that during the  roadshows the vehicles would have photographs of all Olympics qualifiers from India. The roadshows would disseminate information on the Olympic qualifiers from the country.  He said that the BOL India campaign would further promote sports in the state. The campaign would not only encourage the budding sports talent in the State, but would also acquaint the people about the policies and programmes implemented by the government for the promotion of sports in the State, he added.
Mr. Hooda said that Bol India Bol campaign would also give message to the players who have already reached London to participate in Olympics that a campaign was being run in Haryana in their support. He said that no initiative could be successful without encouragement. He hoped that the players from Haryana would give an excellent performance and bring laurels to the State and the county by winning many medals.
The Chief Minister said that a contingent of more than  80 players from India is participating in the London Olympics scheduled be held from July 27 out of which 18 players are from Haryana. He said that any developed country could be gauged by its players. It was evident that the all the developed countries have produced talented sports persons and India is one of them. Haryana with about  two per cent of the country’s population  had made a distinct place in the country. He said the Haryana is a leading State not only in sports, but also in all spheres like per capita income, per capita investment and wheat productivity. Apart from this the State has also made its mark in the field of education as its students have topped various prestigious examinations like IAS, IIM and IIT. In Olympics also the State would remain on the top, hoped Mr. Hooda.
          Referring to the steps taken by Haryana Government for the promotion of sports in the State, Mr. Hooda said that the State Government has implemented a sports policy to ensure all round development of the sports persons. He said that infrastructure, talent hunt and ensured future were the three main ingredients of the Sports Policy. To provide infrastructural facilities to the players in rural areas,175 Rajiv Gandh Rural Stadia have been constructed. He said that there was a strong sports potential in the rural areas but it needed to be identified. Apart from this, Sports and Physical Aptitude Tests (SPAT) has been introduced in  the State to identify potential athletes to help them excel in sports through scholarships and training. He said that the State Government has also implemented a Policy ‘Padak Lao Pad Pao’ to ensure secure future to the players. The State Government has also announced cash awards for the players winning medals in the Olympics. He said that the players winning gold, silver and bronze medals in the Olympics would get Rs 2.50 crore, Rs 1.50 crore and Rs one crore respectively.
          Speaking on the occasion Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department Mr. Hardeep Kumar said that the Bol India Campaign was being launched in two loops, each would cover ten districts.  He said that the super athletes of the country are being signed into the Facebook and Twitter accounts created for the BOL INDIA campaign so that the good wishes of the people of India reach them. 
          Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. O.P. Singh also gave a detailed information about the campaign.
 On this occasion Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Sultan Singh Jadaula, MLA Prof. Sampat Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Shiv Raman Gaur, Principal OSD Mr. M.S Chopra, OSD Mr B.R Beri, President Haryana Olympic Association, Mr. P.V. Rathi were also present.
