CHANDIGARH, OCT 15
More than 15.36 lakh metric tonnes of paddy
has sofar arrived in various Mandis of Haryana during current Kharif season as
compared to over 14.60 lakh meteric tonnes of paddy arrived during the
corresponding period last year.
While stating this here
today, a spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies Department said that out of the
total arrival of paddy, maximum quantity of paddy has arrived in district
Kurukshetra which is over 4.41 lakh metric tonnes. Similarly, district Karnal
received over 4.27 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, district Kaithal over 2.83 lakh
metric tonnes, Ambala received more than 1.31 lakh metric tonnes,
Fatehabad over 1.10 lakh metric tonnes, Yamunanagar 62,831 metric tonnes,
Panchkula 30,178 metric tonnes, Sirsa 17,876 metric tonnes, Panipat 10,665
metric tonnes, Jind 15,358 metric tonnes and Sonepat 1111 metric tonnes.
He said that out of the total
arrival of paddy, six government agencies had so far procured over 14.80 lakh
metric tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of 55,519 metric tonnes
of paddy was procured by the millers.
He said that out of the total
paddy procured by the agencies, over 6.17 lakh metric tonnes had been procured
by Food and Supplies Department whereas HAFED had purchased more than 4.42 lakh
metric tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation over 2.38 lakh metric
tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 95,083 metric tonnes, and CONFED
procured 87,117 metric tonnes of paddy.
