CHANDIGARH, OCT 31
The Haryana Government has reconstituted State Level Screening Committee
headed by Principal Secretary, Archives Department to screen and scrutinize all
proposals received in the Archives Department for getting financial assistance
from the National Archives of India.
While
stating this here today, a spokesman of Archives Department said that committee
would screen and scrutinize all proposals received in the Archives Department
from various registered voluntary organizations, educational institutions
including private colleges, private library and museums, universities including
deemed universities and individuals for listening, cataloguing, translation and
publication of manuscripts or rare books, historical documents, photographs,
charts and maps for getting financial assistance from the National Archives of
India. The tenure of committee would be of three years, he added.
He
said that committee would receive all applications or proposals for financial
assistance under the scheme implemented by National Archives of India from
various non government organizations or individuals located within the
jurisdiction of the state. It would also examine these applications or
proposals to ascertain coverage under the said scheme, status of the applicant
institution or individual including their capacity to pool in their matching
share and importance and feasibility of the proposal or project. Apart from
this, the committee would submit recommendation or observation to National
Archives of India for consideration in the meeting of the Grants Committee for
the said scheme.
He
said that Director General, Archives Department would be member whereas
Chairman, Department of History, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and
Chairman, Department of History, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak would
serve as non official members of the committee. The Assistant Director of
the concerned Regional Repository would be Special Invitee. The Deputy
Director, Archives would coordinate all the activities and compile all
proposals received from Regional Repositories and put up them for consideration
to the Committee.
