CHANDIGARH, OCT 22
The Haryana Government has initiated the
process to set up an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at
Sonipat at a cost Rs 128 crore.
While
stating this here today, a spokesman of the Haryana Technical Education
Department said that the Department has invited expression of Interest
from reputed Information Technology (IT) and Non-IT companies to be associated
as industry partners for setting up of the institute. The IIIT would be
established under a scheme of Union Ministry of Human Resource
Development on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP)
basis.
He said that the non IT
companies could be manufacturing companies in which there was a demonstrated
use of IT. The Central and State Public Sector Undertakings and MNCs working in
India could also apply to become the partner. There may be one or more industry
partners and the minimum contribution from an industry partner should be Rs.two
crore.
He said
that under the scheme of the Central Government, 20 new IIITs would be set up
in the country and the capital cost of each IIIT has been identified as Rs.128
crore which is to be shared by Government of India, State Government and the
industry partners in the ratio of 50:35:15 respectively.
He said
that Industry Partner would be eligible upto 25 per cent of total seats on the
Board of Governance and there was a provision of maximum financial and
administrative autonomy to the Board so that the best talent could be attracted
to carry out advance research, innovation and development of applied IT in
various industrial sectors in the state. This would be a great opportunity for
a company to be associated with and to shape a high quality institution that
would be set up, he added.
The last
date for submission of expression of interest at office of Director General,
Technical Education, Panchkula would be November 23, 2012. Any other
