National level SARAS (Sale of
Articles of Rural Artisans Societies) Fair-2012 will be inaugurated by Haryana Industries Minister Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala
at Kaithal on October 28, 2012. About 300
craftsman and Self Help Groups (SHGs) from different states of the country
would participate and exhibit their artifacts during the Fair.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that
about 100 SHGs had already reached Kaithal and registered their entries for the
fair. SHGs from States of Tripura, West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh,
Tamilnadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan,
Gujarat and Karnataka had already registered themselves for participating
in the event.
He
said that different states would organize cultural programmes from 6 p.m. to 8
p.m. during the fest which would be the major attraction. Union Ministry of Rural Development organises this unique
exhibition-cum-fair every year for facilitating the Special Swarnajayanti Gram
Swarozgar Yojna (SGSY) beneficiaries, rural artisans, craftsperson, self help
groups (SHGs) and NGOs from all over India to exhibit and sell their impressive
range of rural wares and products.
He
said that duties had been assigned for this important event. District
Development and Panchayat Officer had been appointed as Nodal Officer and Naib
Tehsildar had been given the responsibility of Duty Magistrate during the
period of fair. All the departments concerned had been directed for proper
arrangements of amenities during the fair. Apart from making adequate security
arrangements, close circuit camera had also been installed to track movements
of anti social elements.
