More than 21.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy
has sofar arrived in various Mandis of Haryana during current Kharif season as
compared to over 19.10 lakh meteric tonnes of paddy arrived during the
corresponding period last year.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies
Department said that out of the total arrival of paddy, maximum quantity of
paddy has arrived in district Kurukshetra which is over 5.72 lakh metric
tonnes. Similarly, district Karnal received over 5.59 lakh metric tonnes of
paddy, district Kaithal over 3.69 lakh metric tonnes, Fatehabad over 2.08 lakh
metric tonnes, Ambala received more than 1.83 lakh metric tonnes, Yamunanagar
98,409 metric tonnes, Panchkula 39,735 metric tonnes, Jind 32,179 metric
tonnes, Sirsa 31,401 metric tonnes, Panipat 19,795 metric tonnes and Sonepat 3065
metric tonnes.
He said that out of the total arrival of paddy, six government agencies had so
far procured over 20.28 lakh metric tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining
quantity of 97,637 metric tonnes of paddy was procured by the millers.
He said that out of the total paddy procured by the agencies, over 8.28 lakh
metric tonnes had been procured by Food and Supplies Department whereas HAFED
had purchased more than 6.16 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries
Corporation over 3.22 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1.33
lakh metric tonnes and CONFED procured 1.26 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.
