CHANDIGARH, OCT 2
For the Kharif season 2012-13, procurement of paddy has
commenced in Haryana and a total of 20,155 metric tonnes of paddy has
sofar arrived in various mandis of the State.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Food and
Supplies Department said that out of total arrival of paddy, the maximum
quantity of paddy has arrived in district Kurukshetra which is 11,948
metric tonnes. Similarly, district Ambala, received 5754 metric tonnes
of paddy, district Yamunanagar 1648 metric tonnes, district Karnal
401 metric tonnes, Panchkula 234 metric tonnes and Kaithal 150
metric tonnes.
He said that six government agencies have so far procured 20101
metric tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of 54 metric
tonnes was procured by mill owners.
He said that major portion of it which was 8496 metric tonnes,
had been procured by Food and Supplies Department whereas HAFED had
purchased 6505 metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2349
metric tonnes, CONFED 1400 metric tonnes and Haryana Agro Industries
Corporation had purchased 1351 metric tonnes of paddy.
