Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today described Chandigarh as “brand name”
saying that there is no need to copy it and one should not do
anything which is unethical.
The Chief Minister, who was replying to the questions of media persons shortly
after participating in a panel discussion of “Aaj Ka Haryana-Kal Ka Haryana”
organized by a national Hindi daily here, was asked to comment of Punjab
Governments proposal to develop “New Chandigarh” adjacent to
Chandigarh, the Capital of both Punjab and Haryana and also a Union Territory.
Mr Hooda said that as Chandigarh has a limited territory, its expansion
was necessary.It will be good if a new city is developed.
When asked to comment about the implementation of Food Security Ordinance
2013, Mr Hooda described it as a step forward in realization of dream of
Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation, who was of the view no one should be
hungry and all should get shelter and clothes. He said that while former Prime
Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi had nationalized the bank to benefit the common man,
UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi had given the slogan “Congress Ka Haath-Garib
Ke Saath”, which is being implemented in letter and spirit.
Mr Hooda said that a new scheme known as ‘Dal-Roti’ would be launched on August
20 which would benefit 12.84 lakh families belonging to Below Poverty Line
(BPL). He said that 2.5 kg Dal would be given at a rate of Rs 20 per kg per BPL
family per month.
He said that the implementation of this Ordinance would benefit 1.30 crore
people in the State.
He
said that the people have appreciated the decision of the Government to
implement National Food Security Ordinance.
When asked if there was any proposal for distribution of power through a
private agency, Mr Hooda said that there was no such proposal.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by President, Haryana Pradesh Congress
Committee, Mr Phool Chand Mullana, Finance Minister, Mr H. S. Chattha and
Education Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal.
