Class-wise delivery of text books starts

The Haryana Education Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal, said that class-wise delivery of text books has already been started in all government schools in the state and maximum books have been delivered.
            Mrs. Bhukkal was presiding over a review meeting with senior officers of Education Department regarding status of supply of text books for the current academic session here today.
            The Minister said that all the text books had been printed and their supply had been started. She said that  100 per cent text books of Classes IX and X   had already been delivered in schools. Similarly, cent per cent supply of XI and XII standards books of NCERT had been ensured and the same were available in market. The text books of class first and second had almost been delivered and maximum books of classes  III to VIII had reached the godowns in all districts and the same were being delivered. There was some technical snag with regard to quality of printing resulting in an unwanted delay in delivery in a few places which had been sorted out during meeting. The publishers assured the delivery of all text books by the end of this month, she added.
            Mrs. Bhukkal directed the officers to just start the tender process of printing and supplying of text books for next session so that the same could reach before the commencement of new academic session. She also directed them to further improve the functioning of text book cell of the department.
            Mrs. Bhukkal said that a meeting of all district officers including District Education Officer, District Elementary Education Officers and Block Education Officers would be conducted on July 11 to ascertain the reason of poor results, status of dual desks and text books supply in government schools.
            It was informed in the meeting that earlier, the books were used to be provided subject-wise. Now the class-wise bundles were being delivered in schools to facilitate easy and timely distribution of books. About 1.40 crore text books were being delivered to the students after the implementation of Right to Education Act in the state.
            Those present in the meeting included Chairman, Haryana School Education Board Dr. K.C. Bharadwaj, Principal Secretary School Education Department, Mrs. Surina Rajan and other senior officers of Education Department.
