Haryana
Excise and Taxation Department has collected revenue of over
Rs.4061.34 crore upto the month of May 2013 during the current financial year
which is 6.45 per cent higher as compared to the collection of corresponding
period of last year. More than Rs.3815.14 crore was collected during the
corresponding period last year.
While stating this here
today, Excise and Taxation Minister, Mrs. Kiran Choudhry
said that collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) upto May 2013 in the
year 2013-14 was over Rs.2844.09 crore which was 3.5 per cent higher as
compared to the collection during the same period of previous year. Similarly,
collection of Central Sales Tax (CST) during the same period is over Rs.286.71
crore which is 6.06 per cent high as compared to that of corresponding period
of previous year. She said that CST of over Rs.270.33 crore was collected upto
May 2012 during last financial year.
The Minister said that as far as collection of Excise is concerned, the
department has collected over Rs.811.83 crore upto May 2013 which is 18.29 per
cent higher as compared to the collection made in the corresponding
period of last financial year. The department had collected Excise of over
Rs.686.32 crore during the same period of last financial year, she added.
Mrs. Choudhry said that the department has recorded a hike of 9.24 per cent
in collection of Entertainment Tax upto May 2013 by collecting more
than Rs. 8.22 crore as against the collection of over Rs.7.53 crore during the
corresponding period of last financial year. The Passenger and Goods Tax
collection was more than Rs.96.09 crore during same period which is 7.43 per cent
higher as compared to the collection of same period of last financial year. She
said that a sum of over Rs.8.53 crore was collected as Luxury Tax upto May 2013
which is 22.93 per cent higher as compared to that of corresponding period of
last year. The Department had collected Luxury Tax over Rs.6.93 crore during
the corresponding period in last financial year.
