The Haryana Government has raised the Old Age Allowance
to Rs 500 and 700 per month from Rs 200. Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder
Singh Hooda today said, “If given an opportunity, it will be further enhanced.”
The
Chief Minister, who was addressing a mammoth public meeting at Bawani
Khera, near Bhiwani today, got tremendous applause from the audience. He was
speaking after inaugurating and laying foundation stones of 27
developmental projects involving an investment of more than Rs.116.38 crore in
the area.
Mr
Hooda reiterated his commitment for equitable distribution of available canal
water and added that he would ensure due share of Bhakhra canal water to the
people of the area.
The Chief Minister said that he was quite aware that the available water was
not equally shared which resulted in shortage of irrigation water in some parts
of the state. He criticized the previous Government for such a situation. There
were some forces which do not want the equitable distribution of water as a
result of which the matter is pending in the court. He said that we had
constructed Bhakhra Main Line Hansi-Butana Link Canal for equitable
distribution of available water and he would ensure the same, he added.
Mr Hooda, who appeared very happy with the massive gathering, also announced
setting up of an Industrial Training Institute under public private partnership
mode at village Kharak Kalan, establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Town Park at Bawani
Khera, construction of yard sheds at grain market of Dhana and Chang villages.
He also announced to give Rs.10 crore from HRDF for pavement of streets of
Bawani Khera assembly constituency and Rs.one crore for developmental works of
Municipal Committee, Bawani Khera. He also announced a discretionary grant of
Rs.10 lakh for Gaushala. On this occasion, he also accepted various demands
concerning upgradation of schools, improvement of roads, drinking
water facilities, construction of stadia, water works and canals and boosting
station in the assembly segment.
While referring to the Food Security Bill brought by Central Government, Mr.
Hooda described it as a biggest scheme for the welfare of the poor people which
would ensure foodgrain to about 52 per cent rural and 51 per cent urban
population at a very nominal rate. Under the scheme, rice, wheat and cereals
would be given to all eligible beneficiaries at a rate of Rs.three, Rs. two and
Rs.one respectively. He said that UPA Chairperson today held a meeting with all
Congress Chief Ministers for implementation of this ambitious scheme and
Haryana Government would launch the same on August 20 on birth anniversary of
former Prime Minister of India Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.
The Chief Minister said that with a view to ensure food security to the poor,
State government has also decided to provide 2.5 kilogram pulses per
month at the subsidized rate of Rs 20 per kilogram to about 12.84 lakh BPL
families to meet their nutritional needs.
He said that State government had ensured all round development in the state
and had implemented a number of schemes for the welfare of people belonging to
all sections of the society including farmers, poor, members belonging to the
Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, woman, children, employees, traders and for
urban and rural people. He said that remunerative prices had been ensured to
farmers for their produce. Apart from this scholarships and free plots of 100
square yard each were being provided to the poor.
While quoting statistics, Mr. Hooda said that the present government had spent
a sum of Rs.632.73 crore on various development programmes in the Bawani Khera
constituency during last eight years whereas only Rs.85.53 crore were spent
during six year rule of INLD in the state. Similarly, Rs.4429.84 crore
had been incurred by the present government from year 2005 to the present on
development schemes of Bhiwani district, but the INLD government had merely
spent Rs.280.71 crore from year 1999 to 2005, even when son of former Chief
Minister represented Bhiwani in Parliament.
The Chief Minister also invited the people of Bawani Khera assembly
constituency on July 28 to attend a public meeting scheduled to be held at Hansi
where foundation stone of prestigious Hansi-Meham-Rohtak railway line is to be
laid. He said that the same day, foundation stone of six lane of Rohtak-Hisar
part of National Highway 10 would also be laid.
Speaking on this occasion, President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Mr.
Phool Chand Mullana said that all round development is being ensured in the
state. Welfare schemes and programmes were being implemented for people
belonging to all sections of the society. He cautioned the people to remain
vigilant from leaders who are misleading them on false grounds.
Public Health Engineering Minister Mrs. Kiran Choudhry said that family of
former Chief Minster Ch. Bansi Lal had a close relation with people of Bawani
Khera constituency. She said that she would always be indebted for the support
of residents of Bawani Khera. She thanked the UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia
Gandhi, Haryana Government and Chief Minister for inclusion of Bhiwani and
Mahendergarh districts in National Capital Region. She demanded that state
government should prepare projects for these districts so that maximum fund
could be sought from NCR Planning Board for development.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Ram Kishan Fouji thanked the Chief Minister
for extending support for the new developmental projects and added that today’s
programme would be written in golden letters as never before 27 developmental
projects have been dedicated to the people of the area in a single
day.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Cooperation Minister, Mr. Satpal
Sangwan and former Chief Minister Master Hukam Singh.

Bhayana, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh, former
Minster, Mr. Attar Singh Saini, former Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Prof

former MLA Major Narpender Sangwan and Dr. Shiv Shankar Bhardwaj and Jagjit
Sangwan and other prominent personalities.
