Police advice to applicants seeking information under RTI

By Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH, JULY 30
In order to check delay in providing information under Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005, Haryana Police has appealed to the people to file their applications under RTI Act to State Public Information Officer (SPIO)-cum-Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) Headquarters of the concerned district  to which the desired information relates.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Police Department said that all the DSP Headquarters in each district and district Superintendents of Police (SPs) were working as SPIO and First Appellate Authority respectively of the concerned district.
He said  that generally people submit their RTI applications and appeals to Police headquarters despite the same relates to field units. After receiving the application, the same is transferred to the concerned SPIO of respective district which could be a reason of unnecessary delay in providing desired information to the applicant.
In case of filing an appeal, the applicant could also file the same to the district SP-cum-First Appellate Authority of the concerned SPIO. In case of Range offices, Superintendent (O) and Range Inspector General of Police are functioning as SPIO and First Appellate Authority respectively.
Further information regarding SPIO and FAA of any other police units could also be obtained Haryana Police website http://haryanapolice.gov.in.
